Lavender Dry Shampoo Spray

A homemade dry shampoo recipe that combines clarifying witch hazel and lavender essential oil to life debris and leave a clean, floral aroma.


36 drops Aura Cacia Lavender Essential Oil 0.5 fl. oz.
4-ounce Aura Cacia Amber Mist Bottle with Writable Label 2 fl. oz.
4 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon arrowroot powder
1 tablespoon witch hazel extract


1. In bottle, combine all ingredients.

2. Replace lid and shake until well blended.

2. To use, shake bottle and part dry hair in sections over scalp. Lightly mist each part to roots and allow to dry. Use a wooden comb or bristle hair brush to distribute throughout hair and brush clean.

Question about water in all the recipes. Is tap water fine? Or must it be distilled?

Cornstarch or potato starch would work. I also make a dry shampoo for dark hair with cocoa powder, baking soda and a few drops of rosemary oil. Then apply lightly with a highlighter brush.

Maybe some epsom salt, ground fine?

I have the same question Kim H…I have cornstarch and bentonite clay but I don’t think the clay would be good for my fine, thin hair.
