This might sound silly, but my two dogs truly help me to be my best self and practice my self-care. Every morning I wake up, have a bit of coffee and then get outside for a 30-45 minute walk with them, which always helps to start my day on an active, happy note. I spend a lot of time on my computer for work, and they are a reminder to get up and play outside every couple of hours, which does so much to balance my work-life relationship. Most importantly, they are a constant reinforcement of my belief in finding the fun, joy and unconditional love present in my life.

My daughter. She is such a strong, confident, caring, and funny individual. She is 15 and doesn’t let anything stand in her way. She problem-solves like there is no tomorrow. She finds new ways to approach old problems, situations and habits that may be giving her some trouble. I am proud because she never lost her voice or her strength during her middle schools years. She lifts others up and always has kind and encouraging words for her friends and family.
She is a wonder and a wonder-filled example of whom I strive to be more like.

Everyone around me. With every interaction I have people force me to be more open minded and force me out of my comfort zone. Every day I learn a little more from the personalities around me. Good or bad, it’s a great experience.

My partner helps me daily to be my best self. She motivates me and pushes me to make the right decision in all situations. Also, my good friend Lenny helps me to be my best self.

This has been a difficult process for me. My husband has developed health issues, and I find myself working hard in the family restaurant. The self care needed, is one of my challenges. I am learning how to esteem myself .It is definitely an ongoing process, which is one of the reasons i feel gratitude for these well written thoughtful notes which come in every day of the week.

My two housemates, my best friends, are the two biggest cheerleaders for me to be my best self. I graduated college one year ago with a degree that didn’t make my heart happy. I spent all of 2017 in a “quarter life crisis” and dove deeply into my spiritual practice to the disapproval of my parents and some family members. I began living with my two best friends in the middle of last year and am so blessed to have changed my life for the better with their support and love. I cannot express enough gratitude for the new perspectives they’ve given me, challenging my childhood programming and supporting me to be my own best friend as I live my truth. <3

That’s so wonderful that your husband is your best friend, and that you feel so supported by him. I also believe the strongest relationships are built on mutual support, and people who both encourage us and challenge us to be our best selves.

My best friend, which is my husband. He always encourages me and supports me, and is a great listener.
We'd love to hear your perspective.
