Like most people, I love lavender essential oil. However, I love to mix it with other oils like vetiver, ylang ylang, clary sage and Roman chamomile. I always carry neroli with me, as it’s one of the most exotic, sensual and luxurious oils I know. It makes me feel so good whenever I use it, which is most days! It’s so emotionally uplifting, and it helps me relax on a physical level too. I'd love to hear your suggestions ... what oils help you relax?

Lavender is probably my favorite scent/ oil. I just bought a diffuser (finally!) and I’ve come to really love frankincense and sweet orange oils as well. They pair well together, but they are both great on their own! I’m hoping to explore more oils and find other scents that i like.

I love to diffuse 1 drop rosemary, 1 drop lavender, 1 drop peppermint, 1 drop frankincense, 1-2 drops eucalyptus at night when I’m winding down to go to sleep. It really is a great combination, and great for the lungs!

After years of using essential oils I found that transdermal absorption through your plantar fascia ( bottom of your feet) works wonders! I always used to massage my feet with my essential oils and didn’t even realise how great it was for me until I recently took a reflexology course. All I knew is that it felt good and made me feel good! I commented on it in class and my instructed and I completely bonded over our love for essential oils. She turned me on to these foot pads with essential oils in them that you use while you sleep. I absolutely love them! I’ve never slept better and feel an overall relief of my aches and pains during the day.

What is neroli? I’m always trying to uplift and fight depression / anxiety. It’s a horrible combination. Love essential oils and always looking for alternatives to any meds. Thanks

Frankincense, lavender, bergamot, Clary sage. There are actually several more for anxiety and depression. Use any of those oils but not all at one time.

I love the scent of Gardenia. It is so calming to me. I have an indoor plant and am excited when it blooms. Any suggestions on finding oils? So many just do not smell authentic. Other scents I enjoy are jasmine, cinnamon, clove and any light spicy or floral scents.I also really enjoy Lemon. I am having real problems with mood swings and rises of anger either due to anxiety or some of my other mental obstacles. I would like to infuse essential oil or oil blends to try and help me. I am new to your site and would also like to find information on classes. Thank you!

Hi Kris. Recently I have experienced that the fragrance of lemon grass is amazingly similar to Lemon Balm. I knew lemon balm is one of the more precious oils distilled from the flowering plant of the lemon balm plant which apparently grows prolifically. The lemon grass seems to come from more tropical locations and is a heavier grass, thus less is needed in the distilling process and it is less costly, much less costly. So do you (or does anyone) agree with me that the fragrance is seriously similar? I would love any tidbits you might share about these two lemon sisters??? Thank you so much!

Lavender is my most Favorite. Ylang Ylang III is a close second. But I recently found the essential oils Bergamot and Neroli I love these two as well. It really depends on the day and my mood as to which one of these I use. But I always carry lavender with me.

Dear Tonja…I see you LOVE jasmine as much as I do! We DO have a jasmine perfume, and it is also in the Aura Cacia Precious Essentials line…which are all deliciously suspended in jojoba oil. Like I mentioned it is so easy, just tip the bottle a little on your wrist or a little in your hair, and you have Jasmine for days. For me it is and immediate pick me up, and so soft and sensual too. I just love the exotic sweetness of it, and always brings me immense pleasure. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing Kathy…what is in your ‘Happiness’ blend? I am sure it is something yummy! I have some new favorites from Aura Cacia (of course!!!) and my current favorite is Tasmanian Lavender. You need to realize that my favorite changes on a daily basis! This lavender is so sweet and delicious, it is like a honeyed nectar. By far the best I have ever smelled. What is just as great, it is from our line of Precious Essentials and it is already in jojoba oil…so it is safe and can be applied directly to skin. For me, anytime I can skip a step it makes my day easier! My other long time favorite is Lemon Balm. It is also from our Precious Essentials so I just apply to my wrist and I am ready to go! Wonderful for nighttime relaxing, and the aroma is quite simply…marvelous!

I love the blend of ylang ylang and dark patcholli, but only a small amount of the dark patcholli… when I wear it to work people say the room smells like a spa! The ylang ylang lifts my mood and calms any anxiety I may have… however I don’t have much of that anymore!

Cher…what a great combination! Patchouli can be a little strong for some people, so the idea of lightening it with a nice sultry floral like ylang ylang is awesome…good job! For me so many oils lift my mood, someone asked me the other day what my favorite was, and I immediately said jasmine. However, I am aroma-fickle LOL! I said jasmine because I think on that day that is what I needed. Ask me the next day and I may say one of MANY oils. Like rose, neroli, ylang ylang, tangerine, cardamom, sandalwood, vetiver, balsam fir, fresh ginger, mandarin, lavender, clary sage. Need I say more? You gave me and others some ideas and I encourage you to explore further…and most importantly share with us!

How do use oils
Kris M. Wrede
July 25, 2017 - 5:22pm
Hi Cari…so glad to have you in the conversation! Are there any particular oils you are interested in? I use essential oils in so many different ways, but if you are new to essential oils you can start slow. I would go to the Aura Cacia site and there are so many recipes and suggestions for use on there as well. I would maybe start with some familiar ones like orange and lavender. Lavender is so incredibly versatile, even a few drops on a Kleenex or your pillowcase can help with relaxation at night. If you have a lighter pillowcase it may stain, so stick with a darker color. I also love orange essential oil or anything in the citrus family in a diffuser, it makes me immediately happier! Let me know how you do!

Christina…it is wonderful for muscles I agree. I also keep peppermint in the car for long trips to sniff when I got a little bored! Other great muscle oils would be helichrysum, frankincense and eucalyptus.

Arleen you are so right! I love doing combos that appeal to me, and then sharing them with friends and family. I love putting spices with rose, since it has a bit of a spicy nature so they are very complementary. Try our Ginger Fresh, Cardamom and a tad bit of cinnamon for a different yet similar aroma. Enjoy!

Right? Essential oils are a good, healthy obsession to have! What do you like using them for?
Kris M. Wrede
June 19, 2017 - 7:25pm
Thanks Arleen….I LOVE new ideas! Since rose is a super favorite of mine, and it is a little spicier than most florals…I love the idea of clove and rose together. A master stroke I must say! For those of you who would want to consider this, remember that clove is super strong, you may only want to put in only 1 drop of clove to let’s say 25 drops of our Aura Cacia Rose Absolute Precious Essentials. Since the Rose is beautifully suspended in jojoba oil, once you mix it is may be used directly on the skin.If you feel it needs more clove only do a drop at a a time, as I always say “You can always add, but you can never take away!” Remember not to use in a diffuser, since it has the jojoba oil in it and could clog the diffuser.

Rose relaxes and uplifts me. Gives me that ahhhhh sigh of relief. I love a little on my kneck. Theres something about rosemary in the diffuser that relaxes me too. I also find spearmint and eucalyptus relaxing even though its considered a stimulant.

Rose is definitely a fav of mine too! It is so emotionally uplifting every time I use it, which is just every day. I put a little on my hair as it makes the fragrance last longer. I love our Aura Cacia Rose Absolute Precious Essentials, and I mix it with Helichrysum Precious Essentials and a little of our Argan and Rose Hip seed for my face and hands morning and night.
I think it is perfect that you realize what relaxes you, even if it is not a typically relaxing oil. It is important to realize what works for us personally, and that is all that matters, right? It depends on so many factors how your own physiology will react to an oil…so kudos to you!

I like Lavadin, it resembles lavender but a bit more earthy.
Kris M. Wrede
July 11, 2017 - 7:04pm
Lavandin is so nice, it is a little more earthy and kind of bracing too! Just so you know that Lavandin is a different plant, so it actually has a high camphor content of about 20%. What that means is it could potentially be a skin irritant, and it is also not relaxing like Lavender.

Lavender is great to put on before bed
Kris M. Wrede
July 11, 2017 - 7:02pm
Jake you got it! It is one of the best ways to use lavender. Most people think lavender is just relaxing, but it can also be very balancing. So if you are too low it can help bring you to that point of balance.
We'd love to hear your perspective.
