Notebook: Body
What do you love about your body?

Our bodies are really these amazing things that we sometimes take for granted. It’s easy to only focus on things that we might not like or appreciate about our bodies, when there are so many wonderful things it does for us every day! There have been moments in life where my mind has said "I don’t think I can keep going," but then my body proved me wrong! I never thought I’d be able to do a headstand, but I kept trying every day until, one day, I could. It’s an amazing feeling to be surprised by what your body can accomplish. Honor your body for the unique things it can do, and practice self-care. What ways do you show love to your body?

I have been learning to love my body.  Since the summer I joined a gym and I’m finding yoga is my favorite activity and some weight training to build some strength.  I give myself time each morning to have my cup of coffee in peace with my dogs before my day begins.

I’m even beginning to be proud of the way my body is aging as I’ve gotten into my 70’s.

I love the way my body evolves, how witnessing self compassion towards my body in action through small daily lifestyle changes actually has been healing my chronic pain and increasing my joy. The feeling like everyday I have the possibility to explore how it feels to be me.

I love the fact that I can be comfortable in my own skin again. I used to be embarrassed and always covered when I was at home even if I was alone. I changed my eating habits and started being clean with my food choices and became more active with one of my passions which is dance. I could feel my true colors emerging and that spark ignite. I’m not the fittest person but I can say that I am happy and that’s the most important thing.

I’m loving my muscles right now because I did it on my own and I got the results with caring about myself and working hard and making changes for the better.

I thank God for a healthy body and a mind which is still working and I hope I can continue to do so by looking after it as it has given me so many beautiful years. It’s scary these days to see family and friends with so many unfortunate issues - of course, we undermine and we overuse our stamina and abilities these days be it running errands or stressing out.. But yeah! i love my body all of it!

My body is forgiving.  When I treat it well, it vibrates with joy and energy.  When I treat it poorly, it lags and falters but I know it still loves me and stands ready to bounce right back once I’m back on track.  My body doesn’t judge me; it shows me perpetual forgiveness and love.

I love my muscles!  They keep me moving.  They keep getting stronger, and amazing me with every heavier weight I lift!  And I love they make my skin look tight and not as fluffy as it once was.  My body is an amazing machine!!!

I can show my body love ❤️ through the food choices I make to nourish it. I recently realized that I CAN heal and strengthen my body through my food choices…more plant-based, nutrient rich, non-processed foods…and to relish the nutrients plants pack. I no longer count calories but instead consider serving sizes and the nutrients I will gain by making better choices.

I love that I can push my body beyond the limits of what I thought it could do! Not every day is going to be your best where you can put all your effort into a workout, but even the littlest of strides and consistency can go a long way:)
