My favorite way to make exercise fun is to find new trails to go hiking, and practice my plant identification along the way. I try to limit the amount of television that I watch at home, so if I’m working out at the gym and doing one of the cardio machines, I let myself have a treat of watching a moving or television show while I’m exercising. I’m a huge believer in the concept of movement instead of exercise- I have been exploring new ways of moving my body that are enjoyable, rather than simply exercising for the sake of burning calories. I have recently been playing around with flexibility and mobility workouts, having fun with trying to do box jumps or other agility moves, and sometimes just taking time to stretch and foam roll. The diversity of workouts not only keeps my body healthy, but is engaging to my mind as well and keeps exercise from getting boring or feeling like a chore.
