Noteworthy Journey: Task 16
Truth: Listen To Your Truth

“Occasionally, I have those we-need-to-talk intimate conversations with myself. I take a moment to ask myself, “How am I feeling? What is my body trying to tell me, and am I listening? Do I need an extra hour of sleep? Some ice cream? To watch the sunrise? To simply slow down?” I take a moment to reflect on my thoughts and create my reality. My reality is what my body and mind need. They need my authentic true self.”

I started this journey because of an unexpected health issue. Today’s task of focusing on Truth is very important to me at this time. I am in the process of learning how to take the time to really listen to my body and allow myself to accept my true feelings.

With it being Sunday that usually means homework and housework.  My sister and I spent the entire morning working out in the yard though instead and it was exactly what I needed.  There are plenty of hours left in the day for me to do stuff inside where as my time outside is dictated not only by the time but by the weather also.  As a little side note, it is pouring down rain right now so it was a good thing we finished up everything outside this morning.

Sometimes we are so focused on taking care of and/or pleasing others that it’s important to have these moments to check-in with ourselves. I’m going to try to make a point to do this more often.

This was my favorite task so far.  I loved when my timer went off and I was able to stop, take a breath, and actually check in with myself.  I really did listen to what my body was telling me and actually got up to stretch, breathe, make a cup of tea and take a break instead of merely plugging along.  This is something I think I’ll continue to practice.

I have learned to go as slow as possible when I feel rushed. For example, I felt behind a days, but I had to care for a flubug going on in my home. I accepted where I was and where I am in order to get everyone healed up.

I am able to this most days. When I don’t I feel it physically and emotionally. Yoga really helps me to listen to myself.

Excellent task ..too easy to get caught up in the day to day and lose ourselves

Being a mother of 2 sometimes it’s hard to give to yourself! But I’m realizing you can’t pour from an empty glass!!

I have been working on living in my truth for years, while I am a work in progress, I have come very far.

I like the setting 3 reminders- because I easily forget to turn inward and ask myself what I need- I commit to trying this.

I love this idea, to let my true, authentic self to have a moment of my undivided attention.  To create space for the truth within, to become accustomed to listening… me.  I want to make this a regular practice!

This task has reminded me of three things:  to slow down and rest, to at least do light exercise daily, and to be patient with myself and nourish my body daily.

I do listen to my body majority of the time, but to actually set an alarm/appointment for my self check was probably more aware since I stopped to really take more time.  I guess I’ve been doing and noting things that it just happens without much focus

Set three reminders on your calendar and check in with yourself to see how you’re feeling, what your body is telling you and to learn about what you truly need.<< this is good, we should listen to what our body is saying. I did not get much rest yesterday and today I was going to do many things but my body said REST…. so I did, and feel better now. Take care

I listened to my body today and was on point with what I needed and what was being communicated. To speak and express your truth is liberating for self and others.

Not only should we listen to our truth - but learn to speak our truth, as well.

My body is telling me I need to drink some water and have a light snack like a piece of fruit.  My soul is telling me to spend some re-orienting and nourishing time in the Word of God.  #onit Thanks!

I have set dates for team updates at work, annual check-ups and car maintenance reminders but never thought of setting time aside to check-in with myself. This will definitely help in becoming more mindful.

Listening to my truth.  Something to take time to do.  I often forget to check with myself.

My truth right now is so hard.  I know all the right things to do but can’t get past anger right now.  The truth is I have to face these feelings then work to move on.

It is so important to be true to myself. This is part of not living with regret or living a life built on lies. It can be tough to say what I really mean or decide to slow down in this fast paced life. But when I listen to myself, I know what changes to make for the better. Life is better with truth.

I put sticky notes in my planner for random dates in the future with questions: Is this something I need to do? Is this something I want to do? Does it make me happy?

Setting an alarm to check in is a great way to stay in control of your day.  Instead of getting stuck and going with the flow.  This has allowed me to have more intentionality in my day.

Self awareness has been a journey for me. I struggle to acknowledge when I need to slow down. But that matters just as much as productivity.

July 18, 2017 - 8:35am

This is a great task for me to remind myself to pause and take notice of how I’m feeling both physically and emotionally and really listen to what my body and mind are telling me and in need of. I have learned that I need more consistent exercise, water, meditation, gratitude, and forgiveness. I continue to work on all of these.

July 17, 2017 - 12:08pm

This was an interesting prompt. I usually check in with myself in the morning and evening but it was great to do some mid-day check ins and take some deep breaths, and think about how I’m feeling.

How am I feeling? Fine, I guess…I’m healthy for my age….What is my body telling me? It feels great after a good workout at the gym….What do i truly need? I’ll have to think about that one…retirement would be nice…

I lived nearly my entire life doing what others have required of me or told me what to do.  An illness requiring three months of hospitalization gave me time to think about myself and what I wanted or could learn to do for me.  These last three months have helped me to make those decisions I should have made years ago to take care of myself.  Now, every morning, I think about what I will do for myself - my body, my spirit, and my mind.  Making good choices has been an experience of joy I never experienced until now.

I usually do a “self check” when I wake up in the morning and I will be setting up alarms on my Fitbit for the others. I think that we all get busy in our daily lives and forget about taking a little time to focus on how we are doing.  I’m going to try to make it a daily practice.

This has really helped me. I have a lot of things pulling me in different directions. I have a lot of people pulling me in different directions and have lost me. I have been listening to people who are telling me who I am and what I should and should not do. I need to step back and know who I am and what I should do.

If I know something is bothering me or making me feel uncomfortable, rather than suppress it I will take a minute alone with myself and say aloud whatever it is that is bothering me no matter how hard it is to say it. It helps to hear it out in the open because then I have acknowledged it and feel I can move on faster. No one has to know but you.
