Noteworthy Journey: Task 20
Giving Back: Pay It Forward

Everywhere in the world, women of courage and determination are trying to better their lives in the face of seemingly overwhelming difficulties. Inspired by these women, Aura Cacia created the Positive Change Project to help support them. Each time you purchase an Aura Cacia product, you support our Positive Change Project and the many resilient women it benefits.

I am the secretary and newsletter editor for our local chapter of Women of Today.  We have monthly meetings and have quarterly events in the community that we sponsor.  It is a nice way to give back to our community.

I was not aware of Aura Cacia’s Positive Change project, but I love this so much! I always make an effort to support women-run businesses and will make a point to pay it forward to others who need help more than I.

I love being able to help other women.  As nurturers, we are often the last ones to reach out or even think of ourselves.  I feel especially compelled to make donations to shelters for battered women.  Taking the first steps to escape from an abusive situation takes a lot of courage.  To gather and donate personal care items, such a small and simple thing to do, can mean so much to someone who may have left these things behind in a hasty exit.  Sometimes it’s the smallest of our creature comforts, a toothbrush and toothpaste, some face wash and moisturizer, a book, and a lip balm, that makes the biggest difference, and that provide just a little touch of normalcy.  Sometimes that little bit of support and normalcy can give a woman the courage to keep going.

Our neighbors are dealing with some serious health issues. We’ve been able to bring them food and care for their bird. I know they appreciate it and we feel thankful that we are able to help.

I try everyday to pay it forward in many ways, by simply smiling at people I come in contact with, listening to people when they need to be heard, and trying to be empathetic to others. When I give freely with an open heart, I always feel soooooooo good.

I love to give back whenever I can. I try to be there to support anyone that I can.  It always feels so good to do for others especially during difficult times in my own life.

I love this idea, I’m helping a couple of ladies where I work with EEOC issues. I work in a predominately man’s world and have been for 30 years, I don’t want to see the women starting careers now ever have to put up with what I have all these years. I’m hoping to see change before my career ends so that I can feel confident that other women will not face these issues.

It just so happened to fall into place today at work when an inquiring female of another business stopped in for help filling out a form we use also.  While we discussed a mutual resident, along with the paperwork to fill out, I also shared some oils.  :)

Something we are doing at work is a “love note” project. I have committed to writing at least 1 note a day (I have succeeded for 5 days now) to let my colleagues know they are appreciated and loved and I am grateful for what they do.

I work at a shelter! <3 I love what I do every day and I’m so thankful for the incredible people I get to know.  If you’ve never served at a shelter before, be inspired to go for it!  I can’t tell you what gets people into homelessness, because everyone’s story is SO different, but I can tell you what gets them out of it: relationships.  What I’ve observed is that the people who ahve jsut 1 person in their lives who care about them are the ones that make it out of homelessness, and the ones who have no one tend to struggle to progress no matter how many resources they have.  So please be encouraged to make a new friend and spend time with them!  you don’t ahve to teach them anything or do anything special.  Just spend time together and build a friendship.  You could save a life!  Thanks for reading and take care.

It is wonderful to hear of Aura Cacia’s commitment to helping women worldwide. I love to cook, so feeding people is how I usually offer help. But this task reminds me that I have a recuperating neighbor that I should bring food to.

I agree with kelly. It feels most often people just need someone there. Someone to listen and care. Im grateful that ive been able to be that person in so many lives. Im grateful they felt comfortable enough to share their lives with me. Im grateful that now im finding ways to take those ripples and extend them even further!

I have recently helped several people just by being there for them and giving solid advice. Sometimes it’s not so much things that people need but just an ear to listen and some words of wisdom. I tend to be the light people gravitate towards when things go awry and I enjoy helping others to get back on track or lift them back up.
